Now that we’ve gotten past the Snowpocalypse! and Snowmageddon! and the SnOMG! and we’re Snowverit, it’s time for your intrepid facilitators, Nobilis and Sarah, to spring back into action and schedule some new CASWG meetings…
March 14 @ 1 PM at Borders Bookstore, Springfield
“Outlining for Fiction”
Nobilis Reed will share his outlining techniques for writing fiction; he recently completed NaNoWriMo – yes, all 50,000+ words in just 30 short days – by using these techniques. Planning your writing isn’t just a good idea – it’s a necessity if you want to stay focused, on time, and create a piece that is true to your vision. If you have favorite fiction outlining techniques, come and tell us about them!
April 25 @ 1 PM at Borders Bookstore, Springfield VA
“How To Hold a Reading”
Sarah Sloane, fresh off of reading at Femina Potens gallery, will talk about what it takes to hold and/or participate a reading, how to choose or create works appropriate to your time & theme constraints, and public reading “tricks of the trade”. Please join in the conversation with your own experiences, ideas, and questions.
May 23 @ 1 PM at Borders Bookstore, Springfield VA
“Building Your Reader Community”
Nobilis Reed offers his thoughts on how writers are building a reader community, how to engage with community members for promotion and non-promotion purposes, and what the amazing positive benefits of an active community can bring. We’ll talk about everyone’s experiences with communities of readers – either as writers or readers – and come up with some “best practices” that we can all apply!
We’ve decided to move our Springfield meetings to Sunday afternoons, in hopes that more people will be able to attend. The Springfield Borders has ample parking and is a five minute walk from the Springfield Metro station (yellow line). Meetings are free of charge; there is a coffee & pastry bar in the bookstore that you can purchase snacks at.
We also would love to have anyone interested in leading future meetings contact us here or at caswg (at) gmail.com with topics and availability; we would like to schedule the June meeting soon!
